Piscataqua River Bridge in Kittery |

Getting There
As the only U.S. state that borders just one other state, Maine may seem isolated at first glance. However, it is well within reach for many travelers. Portland International Jetport (PWM) has nonstop flights from cities all over the eastern U.S. and as far away as Denver. Those from New England and Eastern Canada are just a short drive away from all Maine has to offer.
The way most visitors access Maine is via I-95 from the New Hampshire seacoast. The state line is just 1 hour north of Boston, and the Piscataqua River Bridge provides picturesque views of the river and the coastal town of Kittery as you enter Vacationland. US-1 serves as the scenic alternative to I-95. It hugs the Maine coast for its entire length before following the state's eastern border north to Fort Kent, while I-95 parallels the coast south of Portland before taking an inland route north to Houlton.
